A great lady passed away today. Evelyn Roberts, the wife of evangelist and university founder Oral Roberts died this evening (May 4, 2005) at age 88 in Southern California after receiving head injuries in a fall. As an ORU alumnus and former staffer I can tell you that the word "beloved" does not seem adequate to capture the great admiration, respect and love we all had for this woman.
Knowing her will always be a treasured memory for me. My heart and prayers go out to Oral, who will miss her so deeply, and to her children Richard and Roberta. Her extended family numbers in the thousands as anyone who ever attended ORU regarded her as their adopted mom.
This Sunday I'll be celebrating Mothers Day with my mother, my wife, my mother-in-law and my children. I'll also be thinking about Evelyn.
This is a truely great site. Thank You

It is a great loss for the many she has blessed and her family, however for her it is a great reward. A great Mother of many here of earth will get to spend her Day in the presents of our Lord and Savior. What a great Mothers Day for her. Evelyn you will be missed. Happy Mothers Day!

Evelyn was a very fine and elegant lady. She was a powerful witness for the Lord, not only in my life but many others. As Jesus welcomes her into heaven, I pray the Holy Spirit brings peace and joy to her surviving family and her extended family.

Grace, compassion and sensibility were simply a few of the cherished qualities epitomized by Evelyn Roberts. Words seem so inadequate to express the sense of loss that is felt with her passing - earth's loss is most certainly heaven's gain.
